Yes. One of your favorite horror / thriller writers is the same person. In fact, Dean Koontz used several pseudonyms including:

One of my favorite Koontz aka Coffey novels is The Voice of the Night. I remember being blown away by the first few lines:
"You ever killed anything?" Roy asked.
Colin frowned. "Like what?"
The two boys were on a high hill at the north end of town. The ocean lay beyond.
The book does not disappoint and I highly recommend jumping into Koontz writing with this title or the late 70s classic, The Face of Fear.
